The past few months have introduced ideas and challenges to the corporate travel community that seemed impossible last year, and program managers around the world have responded. And as part of those changes, TripActions Academy was launched as a new learning platform to help bring focus and education to the community of travel managers and EAs preparing for the new wave of corporate travel.
TripActions Academy is a free series of courses that program administrators can take to strengthen their foundation of corporate travel management skills, learn best practices, and bring new focus to their organization’s program. Our goal is to provide access to anyone and everyone that wants a high-level overview of corporate travel fundamentals and user- and technology-first product design.
Each week two new courses are released: One focuses on the corporate travel industry and best practices at large; the second looks at how TripActions specifically can be used to supercharge your efforts.
In order to get the most out of this training, participants start by building a strong foundation of industry knowledge.
The first chapter of TripActions Academy provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of the corporate travel industry. While we all understand the basics, it isn’t hard to get busy with daily tasks and forget to step back and look at the big picture. This course is helpful for the first-time travel manager as well as the seasoned program administrator that wants to see where the industry is headed.
We look at the acronyms that build our world like TMC, OBT, GDS, and NDC. We take a brief trip through the history of expenses and why today an integrated, holistic approach is needed for a complete program. We understand the value of a modern TMC and how they’ve evolved over the past decade. Ultimately, technology has empowered new user- and technology-forward products that meet the higher standards of today’s travelers and provide the highest degree of visibility.
