What Does PSD2 Mean for Business Travelers?

It’s no secret things at TripActions are moving fast. As we continue to expand globally, travelers remain at the center of everything we do, regardless of where their itineraries might take them. While we might be a fast-moving, tech-forward company, we regularly take a step back to make sure we’re prioritizing any details that might affect our users at every leg of their business travel journeys. This month, we’re happy to announce that we are adhering to the new EU directive known as PSD2 (Revised Payment Service Directive) to further improve the security of online payments for our EU travelers.

Starting September 14, 2019, PSD2 will start going live in the European Economic Area, requiring companies to comply with the new payment requirements called SCA (Strong Customer Authentication) aimed to protect consumers from online payment fraud and allowing for safer, more innovative payment services.

This new regulation will be rolled out gradually until March 2021 as many institutions are not prepared to improve the security of their platform. We are pleased to share that as of September 14, 2019 TripActions will be fully PSD2 compliant, ensuring our customers complete transactional safety.

What to Expect

Some of you may have already received a notification from your banks to set additional security measures for your personal credit cards (like additional passwords, fingerprint authentication, or even facial recognition). If not, don’t worry — banks are gradually rolling this out.

If you’re a traveler booking on TripActions with a personal credit card issued through a European bank, you may be prompted to set up two-factor authentication at checkout. Please note that corporate credit cards are currently excluded from PSD2, and because TripActions is an enterprise registered in the U.S., not all transactions processed on our platform will require two-factor authentication. Rest assured, all transactions through our platform are equally secure.

We see this compliance as part of our investment in our global presence and critical to continuing our global hypergrowth. We’re thrilled to be serving European road warriors and their organizations by complying with PSD2, GDPR, and other regional regulations that are essential to how we do safe business.

If you find yourself wanting to know more about our PSD2 compliance, our support agents are available 24/7/365 to answer any questions about the safety precautions we are taking to support your travelers.
